This supply opportunity offers the chance to work within a supportive Gloucester secondary school, delivering engaging Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will help maintain continuity of learning, encourage pupils to think creatively and safely, and create a positive classroom environment where students can develop their technical understanding and practical confidence. Role Overview We are looking to appoint a committed Supply Design Technology Teacher to support a secondary school in Gloucester from September on a flexible or ongoing basis. The successful candidate will deliver well-structured lessons, follow existing planning where provided, manage classroom behaviour effectively, and ensure pupils remain engaged and safe during both classroom-based and practical activities. This role would suit a reliable and enthusiastic teacher with strong subject knowledge in Design Technology and the confidence to teach mixed-ability groups. You will be adaptable, organised, and able to quickly build positive relationships with pupils and staff while maintaining high expectations for behaviour, creativity, and safe working practices. Core Responsibilities Deliver engaging Design Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4 * Follow school planning and schemes of work, adapting lessons where needed to meet pupil needs * Support pupils in developing practical skills, design thinking, creativity, and technical understanding * Maintain a calm, purposeful, safe, and inclusive classroom and workshop environment * Promote safe working practices during practical activities and ensure equipment is used responsibly * Assess, monitor, and provide feedback on pupil progress in line with school expectations where required * Differentiate effectively to support learners with varying abilities, including pupils with SEND * Work collaboratively with department staff and school leaders to ensure continuity of learning * Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and follow all school policies and procedures at all times Required Skills & Behaviours Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology and confidence teaching secondary-age pupils * Effective classroom and behaviour management skills that support a calm, focused, and safe learning environment * Ability to engage and motivate pupils with varied learning needs, confidence levels, and prior attainment * Flexible, dependable, and adaptable approach to supply teaching within a busy secondary school * Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and pupils * Commitment to high standards of teaching, professionalism, inclusion, safeguarding, and health and safety Qualifications & Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable; experienced Design Technology specialists and instructors may also be considered * Previous experience teaching Design Technology in a UK secondary school setting is highly desirable * Confidence teaching across KS3 and KS4; GCSE experience is advantageous * Good understanding of the UK secondary curriculum and safe practical teaching expectations * Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one * Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete all required safeguarding and compliance checks Benefits of Working with Monarch Education: GCA Approved Supplier opportunity to enhance your CPD portfolio through our Affinity Academy free Safeguarding training refer a friend scheme - £200 bonus (you can make unlimited referrals) online portal to manage your pay and timesheets To learn more about us and what makes Monarch one of the leading education recruitment providers nationwide - please visit our website - About Us - Monarch (monarcheducation.co.uk) Important Information: All pay rates provided are inclusive of rolled up holiday pay.
