Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Design Scout to identify, evaluate, and secure collaborations with emerging and established designers for our limited-edition designer physical objects. This role combines design expertise, relationship building, and business development to curate exceptional designer partnerships that align with our brand vision.
This role would be perfect for someone who understands both the creative and commercial sides of design, with the relationship-building skills to attract top talent to our limited edition concept.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Identification & Scouting
* Research and identify promising designers across furniture, lighting, home accessories and other beautiful functional objects
* Monitor design schools, exhibitions, trade shows, and emerging talent platforms
* Maintain awareness of design trends and movements in contemporary design
* Build and maintain a pipeline of potential design collaborators
Partnership Development
* Initiate contact with designers and their representatives
* Present collaboration opportunities and negotiate partnership terms
* Develop compelling partnership proposals that benefit both parties
* Manage the onboarding process for new design partners
Relationship Management
* Cultivate long-term relationships with designers, agents, and design studios
* Serve as primary liaison between designers and internal production teams
* Coordinate project timelines, specifications, and deliverables
* Ensure designers feel valued and supported throughout the collaboration
* Attend design fairs, exhibitions, and industry events
* Network within the design community to build industry connections
* Provide insights on market opportunities and design trends
Required Qualifications:
* Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Fine Arts, Business, or related field
* 3-5 years experience in design, creative industries, or business development
* Strong knowledge of contemporary furniture and product design
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills
* Established network within the design community preferred
* Experience with licensing or creative partnerships
* Cultural awareness and aesthetic sensibility
* Ability to travel for trade shows and designer meetings
Desired Skills:
* Previous experience working with design studios or creative agencies
* Understanding of manufacturing processes for furniture and lighting
* Social media savvy for identifying emerging talent online
