Job Summary
We are seeking a DBT therapist, psychologist or psychological therapist to join our 'Options' Offender Personality Disorder Team at HMP Downview (a female prison in Sutton, Surrey). The role involves delivering a modified forensic Dialectic Behavioural Therapy programme for women on the Personality Disorder Pathway, in addition to 1:1 EMDR therapy, staff training, consultation, and formulation services.
Main duties of the job
* Deliver Modified Forensic Dialectic Behavioural Therapy to women screened into the OPD pathway, providing individual and group based treatment.
* Adequately attend and take part in weekly DBT consultation meetings and adhere to DBT principles.
* Develop individual formulations and apply theoretical models of personality disorder and offending to service users with complex clinical needs.
* Provide outreach support and stabilisation with prisoners at HMP Downview as directed.
* Provide clinical supervision to the team's psychological therapists, assistant psychologists and trainees when appropriate.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures.

Person Specification
* Essential:
o Postgraduate qualification in DBT
o Relevant clinical qualification with accreditation and registration with the relevant clinical body (e.g. HCPC) and eligibility for membership of the SfDBT or equivalent
o Postgraduate qualification in CBT
o Accredited membership of the BABCP (via a recognised core mental health profession)
o Doctoral level training in clinical, forensic or counselling psychology or its equivalent, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, and evidence of two or more distinct psychological therapies, accredited by the BPS
o HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist
o Ability to work in a secure environment, with enhanced security clearance
* Desirable:
o Research methodology, staff training or other applied psychology qualifications
o Training in risk assessment
o Completed accredited DBT training (within-role training can be provided)
o Experience within a personality disorder pathway, prison or forensic environment, and trauma‑informed care

* Proficient in complex psychological assessment and intervention techniques.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey highly technical information to multidisciplinary teams.
* Ability to provide consultation to professional and non‑professional groups.
* Demonstrated understanding of the Women Offender Personality Disorder Pathway and how to support women on the pathway.
Desirable Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
* Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies for difficult‑to‑treat groups.
* Creative application of psychological knowledge to develop new initiatives.
* Ability to write reports for varied audiences, including courts and service purchasers.
