Job Title: Process Safety Advisor
Location: Scotland & the North

Salary: £39,000 - £46,000 (Dependent on experience) + Benefits
iO Associates are working with a leading energy provider to recruit a Process Safety Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity for a safety-focused professional to make a real impact, ensuring process safety compliance and driving continuous improvement across multiple operational sites.
About the Role
As a Process Safety Advisor, you will monitor and audit operational sites to ensure compliance with Process Safety Policies, Cal Specs, and industry regulations. You will collaborate with site managers, provide safety guidance, and promote a strong safety culture. Your core responsibilities include leading process safety audits, hazard studies (HAZOP, SWIFT), incident investigations, and training initiatives. You will also liaise with regulatory bodies and emergency services to uphold safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct and lead process safety audits ensuring compliance with safety standards and policies.
* Work with site managers to implement safety improvements and enhance operational performance.
* Deliver training to operational teams to raise safety awareness and engagement.
* Investigate safety incidents, analyze root causes, and develop preventive action plans.
* Collaborate with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other regulatory bodies for legal and environmental compliance.
* Support hazard studies such as HAZOP, SWIFT, and HAZID, working closely with engineering and operational teams.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* City & Guilds qualification or HNC in Chemical, Mechanical, or Production Engineering
* NEBOSH Certificate in Process Safety Management (PSM)
* Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing or process industries
* Knowledge of COMAH regulations and hazard studies (HAZOP, SWIFT)
* Strong auditing skills and current knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
* Excellent communication skills with a proactive, self-motivated approach
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
* Formal auditing qualification
* Experience in LPG or similar process industries
* Understanding of human reliability studies
