Role Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Children's Home Manager to oversee the care and wellbeing of children in our Solo Placement. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of care practices, particularly in areas underpinned by SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN, including robust risk assessment skills, good communication abilities, and leadership qualities. This role requires a commitment to creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive, while also ensuring compliance with Ofsted Standards, including preparing necessary documentation and conducting policy reviews. The candidate must have First Aid, Medication Management and Administration training, Safeguarding Procedures, and familiarity with the Ofsted Inspection Framework. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Wakefield. The Manager will oversee daily operations of the children’s home, ensure the safety and well-being of children, manage staff, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
* Registered Manager / Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Managing Children's Home (mandatory) or equivalent experience (e.g., Bachelor's in Social Work, Child Development, or related field)
* Valid, clear UK Driver's License
* Experience managing a children's home or similar setting
* Knowledge of child welfare policies and regulations
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Experience in staff management and development
* Ability to collaborate with agencies and stakeholders
* First Aid and Safeguarding certifications
Responsibilities
* Develop and monitor individual care plans for each child
* Supervise and support staff to deliver high-quality care, adhering to best practices
* Lead staff training on caregiving techniques and legislation updates
* Maintain accurate records of children’s progress and incidents, reporting as necessary
* Implement strong safeguarding and child protection procedures
* Build positive relationships with multi-agency stakeholders and families
* Ensure health and safety compliance through regular audits
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals for children with specific needs
* Supervise staff within healthcare services
* Lead and inspire a team to care for children with complex needs and challenging behaviors
* Recruit and train multicultural staff
* Develop tailored care strategies for individual children
* Motivate and lead the team effectively
* Engage effectively with children, families, staff, and agencies
* Create a warm, therapeutic environment promoting emotional, educational, and social development
