Senior Project Manager
Location
Buttershaw, Bradford. Hybrid working – 2 days a week in office. As part of the role you will need to travel to different Yorkshire Water locations; a full valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points is essential.
Employment Type
Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join the Capital Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. You will be accountable to the Capital Delivery Programme Managers and will work across all programmes of work in Programme Delivery.
The focus for the role over the next year will be driving the early start programme of work for our AMP8 (2025 - 2030) capital programme to ensure we are set up to successfully deliver our next 5-year programme. This role will then become part of the AMP8 Capital Delivery Team.
Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire a team to deliver a programme of work that supports the business strategy and outcomes across Water, Waste and the Storm Overflow delivery streams.
* Develop and coach your team and provide strong leadership across your programme of work.
* Work with key stakeholders within Yorkshire Water regarding the implementation of the AMP8 Strategy and AMP8 Programme of work.
* Carry out assurance of your programme against business regulatory drivers, health, safety and environmental performance and meeting the Yorkshire Water business plans.
* Work closely with the wider Senior Project Manager community to share best practice and deliver new and exciting business improvements.
* Feed into the overall AMP8 strategy and workstreams, delivering key objectives within critical timescales.
* Drive innovative thinking into the process and provide constructive challenge.
* Produce key documents needed for sign‑off by leadership teams.
* Work as part of the integrated team in the storm overflow delivery stream.
* Manage programmes of work across the Yorkshire Water end‑to‑end process to deliver our AMP8 business commitments.
* Undertake health and safety leadership visits across your programme of work.
* Work closely with our delivery partners to deliver success outcomes across our capital programme.
Qualifications and Experience
* Focused and driven individual with a passion for excellence and a can‑do attitude.
* Previous experience leading a team in delivering complex construction or civil engineering projects in a live operational environment or delivering procurement models.
* Great people‑management skills – coach and mentor team colleagues and support the overall programme needs through peer reviews.
* Accomplished communicator, negotiator and presenter with a professional and excellent performance record.
* Ability to work within a partnering environment; maintain excellent internal and external working relationships and mediate/resolve project issues.
* Proven track record of project management, planning and financial / budget management and forecasting.
* Experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams through the project life cycle and handling multiple projects concurrently.
* Considerable knowledge of construction processes from civils to mechanical, electrical and ICA equipment, including the technical constraints.
* Strong commercial understanding of NEC conditions of contract and programme monitoring and expenditure forecasting skills.
* Proven record of budget management, financial performance and contract and commercial management.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences.
* Ability to engage with customers internally and externally, developing strong positive business relationships.
* Wide experience in negotiations and conflict management in a project environment.
