About The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as an English Lecturer at our Folkestone College.

As a Lecturer of English you will teach, train and assess students in a variety of learning environments, ensuring a high-quality learning experience. Your role will also include providing support to learners to enable them to achieve their maximum potential and to lead as appropriate on designated study programmes and/or courses, with a key responsibility for ensuring the design, delivery and evaluation of programme.

This is a Fixed Term opportunity until 10 July 2026.

If you are applying as an internal applicant, this could be considered as a secondment opportunity, giving you the chance to focus on your development for a select period, while being able to return to your previous role at the end of the fixed term position.

For the suitable applicant, we will consider a Programme Director position, which is to lead and coordinate the delivery team so all students receive up-to-date course information during their time at college. You'll create course/programme activities to support student understanding of the objectives, assessment schedules and requirements in line with awarding body criteria, including the course handbook. This position will come with a higher pay scale.

About You

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, creative and be able to plan and teach engaging and innovative lessons with demonstrated interpersonal skills. Assessing and tracking student progress, to further plan intervention this will be a vital part of the role and ensuring all students develop the skills they need to succeed.

You will also:

* Be passionate about making a meaningful difference to the future careers of students.
* Provide academic guidance and support to learners.
* Hold strong leadership skills (desirable)
* Have up to date industry experience
* Hold a teaching qualification (this is only essential for a Programme director position)

Please note that there are two salary scale points for our Lecturer positions. All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met. Lecturers will normally move up to the highest salary scale once one full academic year of teaching for our group is complete. (Lecturers must be in post by 1st September in any given year to qualify and this is subject to approval). Therefore, internal applicants in the same role may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification
