An opportunity has become available for a part time, 15 hour per week, Band 6 nurse to join our small but motivated & creative outpatient team at Hove Polyclinic within The Corporate Directorate. It is a satellite unit offering care to patients from a wide-ranging demographic.
The department runs clinics covering many different specialities such as medical and surgical cardiology, ophthalmology, respiratory, neurology, digestive diseases and care of the elderly. The post holder will need to have the ability to understand the differing clinical needs & pathways for patients being cared for within these specialities. You will be part of a team responsible for driving outpatients forward and be able to represent this area at a senior level. The successful candidate will be offered a supportive & friendly working environment with opportunities to develop further.
Main duties of the job
The role will be split between working clinically and assisting in the organisation and management of the department. As part of the clinical role, you will be expected to work within clinics providing care for patients. This may include phlebotomy, undertaking ECG's and OCT ophthalmology scans. Training can be provided for the successful candidate in any of these areas if required.
You will have the opportunity to work with a practice educator, helping develop orientation programs and competencies. Facilitating the professional development and education of all members of staff in a positive learning environment will be key. The post holder will be expected to help motivate, lead and create a shared purpose for the department whilst ensuring that the team feels supported.
You will work with different teams to improve the quality & efficiency of the patient experience, with the Patient First ethos being implemented within the department. You will need to be an empowering leader with a proven ability in delivering high quality care as well as strong clinical skills.
