Agricultural Litigation Associate | 2PQE+
Hybrid (Bristol, Bath)
High-Profile Landowner Clients | Tier 1 Team
Litigation Solicitor or Associate with at least a couple of years’ PQE?
Love to work with some of the most interesting landowners and rural businesses in the country?
Read on.
You’ll be joining one of the UK’s largest and most respected agricultural law teams - consistently ranked Tier 1 in Legal 500 and Chambers - and working on high-profile, complex disputes that really matter to your clients. They’re the kind of clients who want long-term relationships with their lawyers, and you’ll be trusted to give practical, clear, and commercially sound advice.
This is a leading regional firm with a turnover of over £30m, and agriculture is one of its main practices - the department brings in more than £4m each year and is home to some of the biggest names in the rural legal world. You won’t be lost in the crowd, though. You’ll be part of a smaller specialist litigation team within the department, working closely with a Partner, a Senior Associate, junior lawyers, and dedicated paralegal support. It’s a close-knit group where people help each other out, and you’ll get to handle your own varied caseload while teaming up on the big-ticket matters.
The work is as varied as it is interesting: rights of way and boundary disputes, farm partnership fallouts, inheritance wrangles, contractual disagreements, and professional negligence claims. If your background is in property litigation, you’ll have the right foundation, and agricultural experience is a bonus, not a dealbreaker.
Flexibility is a genuine thing here. You can be based in Bristol or Bath, and if it suits, there’s the possibility of Ross-on-Wye, Lydney, or Romsey. Most people do two days a week in the office and the rest from home. Full-time is 35 hours, but if a four-day week works better for you, that’s on the table. The workload is manageable, the targets are sensible, and there’s a lot of trust in how you get your work done.
The culture is friendly, open, and genuinely supportive. You’ll get proper mentoring, plenty of training, and a clear route to progress if that’s what you want. On top of a competitive salary, there’s private medical cover, dental insurance, health checks, and a flexible benefits package you can tailor to you and your family.
If you’d like to join a Tier 1 agricultural litigation team, work with fascinating clients, and have the balance to enjoy life outside of work, I’d love to have a confidential chat.
