We are looking for undergraduate and postgraduates Psychology students or in other social science fields, to join our Honorary team of clinician's within a Excelling performance IAPT service - Havering Talking Therapies!!
You will have a passion and interest in mental health, providing high standards of primary care support (assessment and CBT intervention both via group and 1:1 format) and keen motivation in pursuing a career as a Psychological Wellbeing practitioner or Trainee CBT Therapist.

Post Title: Honorary Assistant Practitioner/Psychologist Grade: Honorary placement ( unpaid) Equivalent level: Band 3 - 4
Hours: Part-time minimum of 3 days ( hours) per week for a minimum of 6 consecutive months and a maximum of 12 months generally

Reports to: CBT Therapist/Senior HI Therapist
Accountable to: Clinical Lead or Service Manager
Location: Various locations in the Borough of Havering (Petersfield Centre & Gubbins Lane)
Liaises with: IAPT colleagues, other psychological therapies staff including, where applicable, members of other disciplines and agencies responsible for a client’s care, including team psychologists and clinical team leaders.
Evaluation, audits, collection of statistics, development of audit projects, and other special project work.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will achieve this by:
1. Focusing support to allow individuals to have meaningful lifestyles.
2. Supporting the Trust Mission and Trust Vision by incorporating the Trust’s values and Staff Charter into their day to day role.
3. Supporting Talking Therapies Havering to implement the national IAPT agenda within a local context.
4. Having an in depth understanding of the Five Year Forward View for mental health
Key Responsibilities:
5. Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the clinical/training element of the post.
6. Apply learning from the training programme in practice.
7. Receive supervision from educational providers in relationship to course work to meet the required standards.
8. After completing 12 months Honorary therapist/assistant psychologist post, you will be supported to apply for a place on the Band 4 trainee PWP course (associated with UCL) – thereafter, once successful completion of the training – Havering IAPT may offer you a permanent 3 years contract as a Qualified PWP.

9. Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the post is to support and enhance the psychological care of service users accessing Havering IAPT Talking Therapies Service. In particular, the main focus will be conducting: -
10. Writing and organising therapy groups (power-point & patient manuals)
11. Assisting with recruitment for step 2 & step 3 groups
12. Co-facilitating (Step 2 & 3) groups where appropriate
13. Calling patients to ascertain administrative information.
14. Outreach work/projects.
15. Auditing and Data analysis for treatments.
16. Ad-hoc tasks instructed by management.
17. Conducting triages (under close clinical supervision)
18. Holding a small caseload of clients accessing 1:1 therapy *(this only relates to applicants that are affiliated to an accredited university studying psychological therapy-CBT)*
