Job summary
Radiology Department Assistant (RDA) Band 3 (37.5 hours per week) 12 month maternity leave cover. The post involves working across MRI and CT departments at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, delivering high quality clinical outcomes in a supportive environment.
Main duties
* Prepare patients for examinations taking account of patients’ needs and cultural differences.
* Undertake a range of clinical tasks/procedures relevant to area of work (e.g., venepuncture, cannulation) for CT and MR examinations.
* Undertake patient observations (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, ECG).
* Produce high quality 12 Lead ECG as required.
* Escort/transport patients within the Department; chaperone where necessary; ensure patient comfort and wellbeing.
* Assist patients on and off examination tables.
* Ensure patients are treated with courtesy; respect individual needs; maintain confidentiality.
* Communicate effectively with patients and team; provide information as appropriate.
* Measure, record and monitor patient physiological readings as required.
* Assist in cleaning/infection control measures of scanners at day end.
* Use IT systems in the department (CRIS) and communicate effectively using Trust computer systems.
* Ensure safe custody of patients’ valuables and property.
* Contribute to a safe environment for patients, relatives, visitors and staff.

Personal specifications
* Clinical experience within a healthcare setting (+3 yrs).
* Experience in direct patient care; compassionate and patient-centred approach.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
* Experience of supporting a team.
* GCSE English & Maths or equivalent; Level 3 in Healthcare; Intravenous Cannulation: Certification; ECG: Certification.
* Ability to work on own initiative; basic computer skills.
Qualifications
* GCSE English & Maths or equivalent; Level 3 in Healthcare.
* Previous clinical experience in a similar role within the last 3 years; experience of direct patient care.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing service needs; excellent communication; team support experience.
* Intravenous Cannulation; Basic computer skills; Knowledge of Radiology information system (CRIS); ECG placement and monitoring.
