The hospital offers a range of services including Orthopaedic (upper limb, lower limb and Spinal), General surgery, Gynaecology, Physiotherapy, ophthalmology, Diagnostic Imaging, Urology etc.
The role:
We currently have a great new opportunity for a Head Chef to join our team at Oaks Hospital, based in Colchester. You will be reporting into the Head of Operations. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of catering services for the Hospital.
Essential:
1. Catering and Hospitality qualification at HNC/SCQF Level 7 or industry equivalent
2. Current level 4 food hygiene certificate
3. Relevant experience from industry with leadership and management skills
4. Outstanding knowledge of food, culinary skills, and expertise
5. Have an approachable, positive and proactive manner with a growth mindset
6. Have a desire to innovate and elevate the offerings and service of this department
7. Demonstrated ability to lead a team
8. Effective communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
9. Sound written and verbal communication skills
10. Planning and organisational skills
11. Good computer skills (MS Office package)
12. Flexibility and adaptability
Desirables:
13. Kitchen management experience
14. Knowledge of special dietary requirements
15. Food Safety Agency Allergen Awareness Training
16. Management experience
17. Demonstrate commercial and financial awareness
18. Previous health sector experience
Operational Responsibilities:
19. Lead and supervise food preparation and delivery for the Hospital
20. Timely production of the kitchen rota
21. Assist with training the kitchen team
22. Development of daily specials
23. Placing orders
24. Monthly stock take
25. Monitor and control food cost within budgeted guidelines
26. Oversee the food safety management system in line with all Ramsay catering policies
Measurable Outcomes:
27. Follow Company guidelines on purchasing from nominated suppliers;
28. Adherence to Ramsay food hygiene policy, COSHH policy and HACCP policy.
