Dakota Hotel based in Manchester City Centre are seeking a professional individual with an outgoing personality and strong front-of-house experience to join us as Assistant Reception Manager. The ideal candidate will be a people-focused team player with the confidence and leadership ability to support in overseeing daily operations and ensuring a warm, efficient, and memorable guest experience.

CONTRACT AND PAY RATE

This is a permanent full-time role, offering a contract of 42.5 hours per week. The position requires full flexibility to work any five days out of seven and including weekends.

Primary Role Responsibilities


* Support the leadership of the Reception team by assisting with rotas, holiday management, recruitment, and team performance, and by representing the department at weekly Operations Meetings when required.
* Drive continuous improvement by implementing procedures, developing team knowledge, and writing/updating departmental SOPs.
* Ensure consistently high guest service aligned with Dakota’s values, offering personalised touches such as restaurant bookings and local assistance.
* Carry out daily Reception duties including check-in/out, reservations, billing, and ad hoc requests, with full proficiency across front office operations.
* Collaborate closely with Housekeeping and the Bar & Grill to deliver a seamless, tailored guest experience and promote the full Dakota offering.

Our location, 29 Ducie St, Manchester M1 2JL, is centrally located in the Piccadilly Basin, close to Piccadilly Station ideally located for public transport users.

We are home to 137 luxury bedrooms, including 27 suites - the most in the city, a destination cocktail bar with champagne room, and a brasserie style grill with private dining rooms as well as a spectacular terrace.

Applicant Requirements

The successful applicant will have/be:

* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a front-of-house role within a 4* or 5* hotel, in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
* Proven ability and enthusiasm for training, coaching, and developing team members.
* Previous experience in 4* or 5* hotels is strongly preferred.
* Excellent communication skills and a natural ability to engage with people.
* A hands-on, proactive approach with flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including frequent weekends and peak business periods.
* Flexible and reliable, willing to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, and peak periods to support the team and ensure smooth operations.
* Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of handling guest concerns and operational challenges calmly and efficiently.
* Be able to be physically active in your role, standing for much of your shift and working at pace.
* An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity.
* Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail.
* Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of our business.
* Successful candidates must demonstrate having researched our brand and a genuine desire to be part of our team.
