Sustainability Manager – Housing Portfolio
Northampton | £47,116 per annum | Full-Time | Permanent
An established social housing provider is seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to lead the organisation’s journey to Net Zero and deliver a robust Sustainability and Decarbonisation Strategy.
This hands-on role is focused on domestic energy assessment, EPC compliance, and retrofit programmes across a large housing portfolio. The successful candidate will translate survey data into practical asset-management decisions, optimise capital investment, secure funding for retrofit initiatives, and act as the go-to sustainability expert across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and delivery of the Sustainability and Net Zero Carbon Strategy
Drive EPC compliance, domestic energy assessments, and decarbonisation programmes
Monitor and report on carbon footprint, energy use, and retrofit progress
Identify funding opportunities and coordinate successful bids for retrofit initiatives
Provide expert advice to operational teams and stakeholders on sustainability initiatives
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practiceCandidate Profile
Experience in a lead sustainability role within housing or property services
Qualified Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) or equivalent
Strong knowledge of social housing EPCs, RdSAP methodology, and retrofit solutions
Experience interpreting survey data to inform investment planning
Skilled at communicating technical information to non-technical audiences
Excellent project management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting skills
