As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Payments, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for delivering critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
1. Execute creative software solutions, design, develop, and troubleshoot technical issues, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or resolve problems.
2. Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
3. Lead triage and resolution of ad hoc, client-impacting issues.
4. Identify opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability of software applications and systems.
5. Lead evaluation sessions with internal and external teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and their applicability within existing systems.
6. Own the delivery of features throughout the development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and support, both independently and with the team.
7. Lead communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new technologies.
8. Contribute to a team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts with proficient advanced experience.
2. Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
3. Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
4. Deep understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
5. Proficiency in software applications and technical processes within disciplines like cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile.
6. In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
7. Practical experience with cloud-native development.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
1. Proficiency with Java (Spring Boot), JavaScript, Kafka, SQL and NoSQL databases.
2. Cloud certifications.
3. Experience mentoring junior talent.
