NR225297 - Consultant General and HPB Surgeon
Join to apply for the NR225297 - Consultant General and HPB Surgeon role at NHS Grampian, to be based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). The appointee will join a team of Consultants and Specialist Doctors in ARI, and will have links to wider NHS Grampian and National Services.
About the role
This post will augment the existing HPB Consultant workforce delivering Cancer and Complex Benign HPB Surgery. The role will include the assessment of HPB cancer patients and minor liver / pancreatic surgery to complement the current delivery of surgical care.
General Surgery team
The General Surgery team at ARI comprises 20 Consultant General Surgeons who work across 3 specialty teams. The department spans 4 inpatient wards, one of which is emergency focused and hosts the Surgical Ambulatory Clinic. There is a specialty managed Surgical HDU within the site, and the service has access to the Combined Short Stay Unit.
Responsibility and expectations
* Work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
* Participate in improvement and redesign initiatives.
* Provide assessment and management of HPB cancer patients.
* Deliver minor liver and pancreatic surgery.
* Collaborate with wider NHS Grampian and National Services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise.
* Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register at interview.
* CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration, or an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC with confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* For doctors not on the GMC Specialist Register, consideration for a Locum Consultant post up to 12 months with option to apply for CESR or Portfolio Pathway Specialist Registration while in locum employment.
