Facilities Assistant

We are looking for a Facilities Assistant - Catering to join our Catering Team at Wathwood Hospital, Wath upon Dearne.

Position available is:

30 hours per week - 6 hour shifts working 5 days/7 (including weekends and Bank Holidays.)


Main duties of the job

To assist in the day to day running of the kitchen at Wathwood Hospital providing meals for patients, staff and visitors. To ensure high standards of customer service and catering services. The completion of all relevant paperwork in line with trust policies and procedures.

Job responsibilities

To ensure compliance with the Catering Food Safety Manual, Trust policies and procedures and to the Food Safety Act and Food Hygiene Regulations.

Please note this post does not meet skill level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Applicants requiring a Skilled Worker visa will usually need to be in a role which is at Band 3 or above, however please note not all Band 3 roles are capable of sponsorship. Person Specification


Knowledge

* Basic Knowledge of Health and Safety
* Basic Knowledge of Food Safety
* Knowledge and awareness of special diets and allergens
* Basic understanding of infection control
* Understanding of the responsibility relating to H&S at work and COSHH
* Knowledge of manual handling
* Knowledge of NHS policy and procedures
* Basic knowledge of Food Safety


Qualifications

* An understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
* Basic Education e.g Literacy and Numeracy
* Recognised catering, cleaning or support services qualification


Skills

* Basic numeracy and literacy skills
* Ability to use own initiative to manage the requirements of the job
* Flexible in managing own time and work duties
* Ability to work alone and as part of a team


Experience

* Experience or working within a catering environment
* Experience of working within a food safety management system (HACCP)


Physical Requirements

* Has the physical ability to perform the full range of duties
