The Role
We have a new, exciting opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join our Operations team!
This role is responsible for the efficient management, maintenance, and development of the Club’s physical infrastructure. It ensures that all Club facilities meet high standards of safety, functionality, and presentation, while supporting procurement operations to deliver value, compliance, and sustainability. This role plays a vital role in maintaining the day-to-day operations of the facilities at the Cooper Associates County Ground, and other Club-owned properties.
To give you a snapshot of what the role involves, you will be overseeing the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of all club facilities, including the Cooper Associates County Ground and other club-owned properties. This involves ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the venues, managing contracts related to cleaning, security, alarms, and utilities, and regularly monitoring utility consumption through meter readings. You’ll ensure compliance with health, safety, fire, and environmental regulations, as well as managing waste and sustainability initiatives to meet environmental targets. You will also support the broader operational needs for match days, events, and community use by liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders, ensuring facilities are fit for purpose. Additionally, you’ll assist with the redevelopment of facilities and contribute to long-term infrastructure planning, including budgeting and capital projects, in collaboration with the Director of Venue Operations.
In terms of procurement support, the role involves working closely with departmental leads to ensure procurement processes adhere to policies while meeting operational needs. You will develop and maintain supplier relationships, evaluate vendor performance, and promote sustainable and ethical purchasing practices. You’ll also monitor procurement spend, identify savings opportunities, and report on efficiencies. Line management duties include overseeing the daily tasks of Maintenance Assistants and supporting the Venue Presentation Supervisor, as well as providing operational assistance during matchdays and events.

About You
Amongst other criteria, you will have proven experience in facilities management, procurement, or a similar operational role, coupled with strong knowledge of building services, statutory compliance, and health and safety regulations. You’ll have excellent negotiation, budgeting, and project management skills, along with the ability to effectively lead and coordinate contractors and internal teams. Experience in diagnosing maintenance requirements and understanding repair works is essential. You will be IT literate, proficient in Microsoft Office and facilities or procurement software, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Flexibility to work unsociable hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays, is crucial to maintaining standards during matches and events. A degree or professional qualification in facilities management or related discipline is required, along with prior experience in a professional sports stadium or large multi-use environment.

Additionally, you are collaborative, willing to share knowledge to enhance team outcomes, and adaptable to operate effectively in fast-paced, constantly changing settings.
