We're seeking a Disrepair Legal Assistant to join our established in-house Housing Legal team on a full-time, permanent basis. You'll work closely with our Solicitor and Disrepair Legal Officer, delivering an internal customer-focused service to successfully defend pre-action and issued legal claims brought against Midland Heart regarding property condition and disrepair.
You'll be responsible for managing your own caseload under supervision, ensuring all matters are administered in a way that is compliant with legislative and court procedures. You'll have the opportunity to support the wider Housing Legal Team on tenancy management and general litigation cases, including the drafting of pleadings and maintaining professional communication and engagement with external agencies.
This is an ideal opportunity to gain specialised exposure to disrepair litigation while providing a high-quality service in accordance with our team procedures. You'll present a positive, professional image of Midland Heart as you support our legal and operational teams to provide an evolving service and contribute to our wider organisational objectives.
Our ideal candidate?
* You'll hold a 2:1 Law Degree or above, and practical experience in a legal role; OR you'll be LPC-qualified (or equivalent, i.e. SQE-qualified).
* You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, sufficient to produce court pleadings and correspondence, as well as engage effectively with internal teams and partners.
* You’ll be highly organised, with the ability to follow Midland Heart standards, policies, and procedures at all times while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
* Previous experience working within a civil litigation environment, specifically dealing with property condition or disrepair claims and an understanding of the CPR, is desirable but not essential.
