Are you a skilled Prototype Wire Person who takes real pride in neat looms, perfectly dressed panels, and work that would pass the closest inspection? We’re recruiting for a Prototype Wire Person in the Blandford area to join a busy engineering team building high-spec assemblies to aerospace and defence standards. This is hands-on, precision work where your experience as a Prototype Wire Person genuinely matters.
As a Prototype Wire Person, you’ll be trusted with complex prototype builds, working closely with in-house engineers to turn drawings into high-quality, functional assemblies. No batch-line repetition here — this Prototype Wire Person role is varied, technical, and requires someone who understands what “right first time” really means.
Main Responsibilities:
Production of wiring looms and cable assemblies
Crimping, soldering, lacing and splicing to aerospace standards
Wiring of cabinets and fixtures
Working from engineering drawings, wiring schedules and circuit diagrams
Liaising with engineers to resolve technical queries and offer practical build solutions
Providing on-site customer support when required
Essential Skills & Attributes:
Extensive knowledge of cable types, connectors and cable assembly techniques
Confident soldering to a consistently high standard
Experience working with a variety of mil-spec connectors
Able to work to IPC 620 Class 3
Prototype assembly experience within a similar environment (defence/aerospace preferred)
IPC 620 certified
Able to pass a skills test
ESD awareness
Tidy, methodical and accurate approach
Able to meet deadlines
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Own standard wiring tools (specialist tools supplied)
Full driving licence
Able to meet Security Check (SC) clearance criteria
