Premises Officer / Caretaker - Secondary Schools (Lewisham)
Full-Time | 5 Days per Week
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a welcoming and well-established secondary school environment across Lewisham. This is a full-time role, ideal for a proactive individual with strong technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and well-functioning school facilities.
About the Role
As a Premises Officer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of the school site. You will ensure that the premises are clean, compliant, and operating efficiently to support both staff and students in a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the general maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds
Carry out routine inspections, repairs, and health & safety checks
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and site policies
Manage site security, including opening and closing procedures
Liaise with contractors and external service providers where required
Support with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and eventsRequirements
Proven experience working as a Premises Officer, Caretaker, or in a similar facilities role within a school or educational setting
Strong knowledge of building maintenance, health & safety regulations, and site management
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach
Good communication and problem-solving skills
