About the RoleWe’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to help manage and maintain the Council’s diverse property portfolio. You’ll play a key role in ensuring safety, compliance, and high standards across a wide range of assets. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused position within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Ensuring asset compliance, safety, and statutory maintenance
* Delivering planned and reactive maintenance programmes
* Managing capital repair projects (£100k+) from procurement through to completion
* Overseeing budgets, contracts, and procurement activity
* Working closely with internal teams and external partners
* Maintaining accurate property data, records, and performance metrics
Skills & Experience RequiredEducation
* Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience
Experience
* Delivering repair & maintenance programmes
* Managing contractors, budgets, and stakeholder relationships
Skills
* Strong communication and leadership
* Understanding of legal and contract frameworks
* Proficient with digital property systems
* Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability
Knowledge
* Understanding of Local Authority operations
