Additional Needs Coordinator
Start date: September 2026
Ysgol Treffynnon is situated on a modern learning campus, which it shares with a primary school, Ysgol Maes Y Felin. The design of the learning campus is beautiful, unique and innovative, possessing state of the art multifunctional classrooms throughout.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly effective Additional Learning Needs Coordinator to lead and further develop provision for our most vulnerable students. This is not a post for someone new to the role. We are looking for a proven ALNCo with a strong track record of leading high quality inclusive practice within a secondary setting.
This is a privileged and highly rewarding position, offering the opportunity to influence the lives of countless young people and to ensure that every student with Additional Learning Needs reaches their full potential.
The successful candidate must model high expectations, professional integrity and resilience, with the ability to have a sustained and measurable impact on the learning, skills and experiences of students. We value emotional intelligence, flexibility and adaptability, alongside drive, grit, diplomacy and a clear sense of humour. Our ALNCo must subscribe to and actively promote our aspirational culture, modelling best practice consistently and supporting colleagues to do the same.
The successful candidate will demonstrate secure and up to date knowledge of the Additional Learning Needs transformation in Wales and the statutory ALN Code. They will communicate progress clearly to students, staff and parents, facilitate high standards of inclusive learning and resolve complex issues with professionalism and authority.
If you are an experienced ALNCo who is innovative, passionate and determined to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people, we would very much welcome your application.
Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified candidates and should be made using the Flintshire application form, including the names of two professional referees. Please include a letter outlining your experience and your philosophy of inclusive education.
Ysgol Treffynnon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Candidates must complete our application form to be considered. We regret that we are unable to reply to all applications. If you have not received a reply within three weeks of the closing date, you must assume that you have not been shortlisted for interview.
Appointment is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check and satisfactory references.
Closing date for applications: Tuesday 24th March 2026 at 12.00 p.m.
