We have an excitingopportunity within our Leaving Care Team as we continue to grow on our transformational journey.

This new post is part of a significant investment in our new Local Offer to Care Leavers, which will see our young people benefit from a range of additional areas of support. You will be empowered to practice relationally with young people, spending meaningful time with them, and be ambitious about their future and outcomes.

Candidates will be knowledgeable and experienced in the Children Act and the Care Leavers Regulations, and have significant experience in working alongside care experienced young people, delivering high quality pathway plans that improve outcomes for young people.

Our Purpose

In our Leaving Care Team we work together tirelessly to be ambitious for our care experienced young people and provide them with the best opportunities to help them achieve success in their adult lives.

You will be empowered to practice relationally with young people, spending meaningful time with them, and be ambitious about their future and outcomes.


As a Personal Advisor you will support care experienced young people from the ages of 16 leaving Local Authority Care and assist with their transition into adulthood. Building on the NELC practice model, you will do this through applying a relational, strengths based, and solution focussed approach to your practice.

You will hold a caseload of children/young people, with a remit to support pathway planning and transitional plans towards adulthood for 16 and 17 year olds and as the lead professional for 18-25 year olds and beyond, leading on pathway planning to achieve success in independence.

You will work closely with colleagues, managers and partners to support our care experienced young people in a wide range of areas of their lives, including sourcing and supporting accommodation, ensuring health needs are being met, and access to learning and employment opportunities.

This post carries a requirement to work unsocial hours at times, and occasional weekend work as part of a rota of planned support sessions, and use of your own vehicle to travel within North East Lincolnshire and outside the county to suit the needs of the young people you will be working with.

Successful candidates will receive a detailed induction, access to ongoing specialist training and regular supervision.

You will develop a detailed knowledge of current legislation relating to Looked After Children and Care Leavers and you will be supported to develop your practice to demonstrate the highest social care standards and values.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a candidate who are passionate about corporate parenting and determined to ensure that our care experience young people achieve the best possible outcomes in adulthood. You will be highly ambitious about the future for our young people.

You will have experience of working with young people who have suffered adverse childhood experience, you will be highly organised and willing to work flexibly for our young people who can sometimes find it hard to work to other people’s schedules.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with NELC partner and other agencies from the public, private and voluntary sectors. You will have experience of working with voluntary, private or statutory sector relating to supporting vulnerable people.

You will be able to work as part of a team, but also manage your own time and diary with the support of your colleagues and managers.

Good quality written and spoken English are essential to this role, as are report writing skills which you will use to write assessment of our young people’s needs and prepare plans to ensure they have the right support.
