Senior Physiotherapist band 6

We are a patient-centred charity that delivers palliative and end of life care to those with advanced life-limiting illnesses, who live in Northwest Surrey. We care for patients and provide support to families and carers in the community as well as in our In-Patient Unit and Well Being Centre at the Hospice.

Clinical Colleague

Our therapy team consists of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, and Therapy assistants. We work closely with a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Palliative Care doctors, our Hospice at Home team, Counsellors and Complimentary therapists. The locations we see patients in are varied and this role includes working across inpatient, outpatient and community services. The ability to travel in your own car to visit patients at home is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical skills within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will provide physiotherapy assessments and treatments to patients with complex and life-limiting conditions, helping to maximise independence, manage symptoms and improve overall wellbeing.

A successful Senior Physiotherapist will be able to:

1. Provide a high standard of individualised patient-centred care to patients with a progressing and life limiting illness. You will need experience in a wide range of core Physiotherapy skills.
2. Work flexibly as a member of a speciality based team, under the guidance and supervision of the Senior Therapists.
3. Undertake skilled and effective communication with patients and their relatives as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team
4. Work flexibly across community, inpatient and wellbeing services offered to patients of Woking and Sam Beare Hospice.
5. Competence in clinical reasoning and risk assessment
6. Understanding of holistic and patient-centred care in palliative settings.
7. Awareness of resource management issues
8. Excellent clinical knowledge and skills
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A successful candidate will have:

10. Degree in Physiotherapy
11. Minimum of 3 years post registration.
12. Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
13. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
14. Experience of working as a physiotherapist with in a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
15. Rotational experience across areas such as Neurology, Medical / Respiratory, Community

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
