JOB SUMMARY

:

The post holder is part of a team responsible for developing and maintaining a high standard of service to all patient/clients/staff/customers.

The post holder will assist in the provision of Domestic Services within and assist in providing these services to the highest possible standard, within budgetary requirements with Domestic Safety procedures.

KEY RESULT AREAS / MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Working in accordance with duty rotas and work schedules laid down by the Deputy General Manager for Catering/Domestic Services.
2. Practising a good standard of hygiene in all aspects of the job.
3. Carry out, sign and date all cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning schedules.
4. Daily and weekly use of equipment and materials.
5. Ordering, receiving and receipting non-foodstuffs and cleaning materials.
6. Following cleaning methods as per instruction and work schedules for all equipment, surfaces and floors.
7. Wearing of protective clothing supplied and adherence to,, Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations at all times.
8. Reporting the need for repairs to equipment/machinery to Estates Services Department.
9. Reporting accidents/incidents immediately they occur.
10. Attend all relevant training/refresher training sessions.
11. Open and/or secure premises if required.
12. Offer suggestions to the Deputy General Manager for Catering/Domestic Services which may improve the service or efficiency of the Catering Department.
13. Communicating with patients regarding complaints and during daily tasks.
14. Assist the Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services in respect of duty rotas and adjusting the rotas as required to ensure that a quality service is maintained.
15. Reporting any pest control problems to Domestic Catering Services Supervisor/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.
16. Communicating with Nursing staff, Estates Services Dept., Dietetics Dept. and patient's relatives on issues relating to Domestic Services. Also external bodies, Environmental Health Officers and RQIA Suppliers.
17. Report compliments/complaints in respect of the Domestic Service and taking appropriate action in conjunction with the Domestic Services Supervisor/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.
18. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade as required by the General Manager/Deputy General Manager for Domestic Services.

25. Carry out their duties and responsibilities in compliance with health and safety policy and statutory regulations
26. Adhere to equal opportunities policy throughout the course of their employment
27. Ensure the ongoing confidence of the public in service provision
28. Adhere to the Code of Conduct for HSC Employees which aims to guide staff, managers and employers in the work that they do and the decisions and choices they have to make. Professional staff are expected to follow the code of conduct for their own professions as well as this code.
29. The post holder will promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency. The post holder will ensure that they take all concerns raised with them seriously and act in accordance with the NHSCT Raising Concerns Policy and their professional code of conduct, where applicable.

Experience Qualifications/ Registration

Aged over 16

Basic numeracy & literacy skills.

Other

Ability to work shifts: Mornings, Evenings and (as applicable). All staff will be required to work in various locations and Departments within the Hospital environment. Carry out the duties of the post.

Skills / Abilities

Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and follow written instructions. Basic numeracy & literacy skills. Ability to use own initiative. Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member. Ability to cope with difficult situations in a calm and professional manner as part of a team in a patient/user focused environment. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the work place.

Knowledge

Knowledge of General Hygiene. Knowledge of Health and Safety. Knowledge of Domestic Assistant Role.
