Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse in Ophthalmology to join our team at Western Eye Hospital, part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in ED ophthalmology. We are a progressive, growing department, and are looking for an individual to work in our emergency department/emergency clinics. Western Eye Hospital is a busy hospital with an equally busy eye casualty. The emergency department feeds directly into the outpatient clinics by administering immediate treatment and then referring onwards appropriately.
Responsibilities
* Practices as an ACP in the diagnosis and management of own ED Patients
* Provides expert advice on issues relating to ED Patients
* Conduct oneself in accordance with the NMC Code, Professional conduct, National and Trust guidelines/policies
* Exercise a degree of personal professional autonomy as an ACP in ED Ophthalmology
* Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and discharge of patient care, including history taking, physical examination and the requesting of diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations
* Independently assess, manage, investigate and discharge patients using appropriate equipment (including slit lamp, tonometry, diagnostic equipment) and manage patients through their pathway according to trust and local protocols, consulting with senior clinicians as necessary
* Undertake, interpret and act on investigations such as blood tests, x-rays, etc.
* Undertake or be trained to undertake Minor lid surgery and cross-linking, assess pre- and post-procedure, and work closely with the medical team to plan further management
* Undertake Botulinum Toxin injections under the oculoplastics team

* Must hold Independent Nurse Prescribing
