Non Emergency Patient Transport Service Dispatcher (NEPTS) – band 3 with unsocial hours allowance, full time, permanent.
About the Role
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) is looking for motivated, organised individuals to join our Non‑Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) Contact Centre as a PTS Dispatcher. You will ensure patients are transported safely, punctually and with dignity to their healthcare appointments, working in a fast‑paced environment that demands excellent communication, coordination and decision‑making skills.
Main Duties
* Prioritise, allocate and dispatch patient journeys to meet appointment times.
* Use live mapping and patient transport systems to manage real‑time patient activity and vehicle availability.
* Communicate clearly with NEPTS crews, call handlers, health professionals, patients and relatives.
* Respond to changes in patient transport requirements and adjust resources accordingly.
* Support operational staff with accurate journey information and resolve issues such as delays or vehicle breakdowns.
* Monitor workloads throughout the shift and ensure crews have all planned work.
* Participate in audits, service improvement initiatives and team meetings.
* Uphold SCAS values and contribute to a positive, supportive Contact Centre culture.

Corporate Induction
All new starters attend a one‑and‑a‑half‑day Corporate Induction at one of our educational centres: Newbury (Berkshire), Bicester (Oxfordshire) or Whiteley (Hampshire). An induction package may be added based on role requirements.
Job Details
Band: 3 (Agenda for Change) – Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (pro‑rata) – Contract: Permanent – Working pattern: Full time. Rotational shift between 05:00 am and 01:00 am, 7 days a week, with a 10‑week rota and average 37.5 hours per week.
Location: Southern House, Sparrowgrove, Otterbourne, SO21 2RU.
Qualifications and Training
Essential
* GCSE English / Maths and ICT or equivalent at grade 4 or above.
Desirable
* NVQ 3 in Customer Service, or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Previous customer service experience.
* Geographical knowledge of SCAS commercial areas.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Skilled use of latest Windows and Microsoft software (e.g., operating systems, Word, Excel).
Desirable
* Logistical background.
* Radio communication experience.
* Map reading skills.
