Nurse Advisor Child Protection
Salary Scale: £50,861 - £59,159 per annum (pro rata)
TEMPORARY 12 MONTH SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY
(April 2026 – March 2027)
An exciting development opportunity has become available within the NHS Tayside Public Protection Service as a Nurse Advisor Child Protection (NACP). This is a key post working as part of NHS Tayside Public Protection Service to promote a high quality, safe and effective service to protect children and young people.
This post is a Tayside wide post covering both community and hospital settings across Tayside. The main Child Protection base is based in Dundee, and we have other satellite bases linked to Angus and Perth & Kinross.
We are seeking candidates who have an interest in gaining Child Protection experience. You will be flexible and adaptable in meeting the evolving needs of service users in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. The successful candidate will be supported to provide specialist advice, training and case supervision in Child Protection for health staff working across NHS Tayside.
You will be required to assist in the delivery and evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of Child/Public Protection training and other core duties on an ongoing basis. Applicants will have leadership and supervisory skills, and be confident to work collaboratively to ensure that NHS Tayside adheres to their commitment to protect those at risk of harm.
Applicants will be educated to degree level and be a Registered Nurse or Midwife. You should have substantial experience in working with children, young people and/or their families with previous clinical experience of working with Child Protection/vulnerable children and families.
You will be committed to working collaboratively across professions and agencies and be able to make evidence based decisions. Professional Child/Public Protection knowledge acquired through degree/diploma supplemented by specialist training, experience, and short courses to master’s level equivalent would be advantageous.
The Public Protection Service runs Monday to Friday, 08.00am to 5.00pm. This post requires PVG Scheme.
