Purpose To support the course team; to plan and organise routine team operations and to ensure the efficient implementation of College policies and procedures in order to deliver the highest possible quality curriculum to students. Main Responsibilities Teaching To teach to the contracted hours of 900 per annum (based on full time hours), less any agreed remission for specific responsibilities or cohort numbers. Staff Coordination To create a positive climate and set high expectations for the course team in relation to standards of student achievement and the quality of teaching. To ensure the achievement of team objectives, working with the Pathway Manager. To advise and guide team members on teaching and learning strategies. To inform the Pathway Manager of training needs for team members. To arrange, conduct and record appropriate team meetings. Course Management To ensure the development and maintenance of a course structure and schemes of work within the context of the organisation’s guidelines and policy. To lead the team in the development of course materials and resources. To be responsible for organising internal and external examination/assessment related administration including the moderation and verification of coursework and internal course assessments. To provide and maintain learner and course data as required by dBs and ACC management information policies. To liaise with other Course Leaders, the Pathway Manager, Centre Manager and other dBs and/or ACC post holders as appropriate. To maximise the efficient utilisation of management information. To review the work of the course team in accordance with the organisation’s self-assessment procedures. To set, monitor and review targets and contribute to the development, implementation and achievement of strategic, operational and the organisation's business plans. To contribute to the monitoring of the quality of teaching and learning in the course team and encourage continuous improvement through the sharing of good practice. To seek learners’ views on course delivery via course panels and other means and use them to improve the quality of delivery of teaching and learning. Learner Management To create a team culture to ensure high standards of student achievement, retention and satisfaction. To monitor, evaluate and advise on the progress and achievement of Learners on the course. To identify, plan and contribute to the implementation of support for `at risk’ learners and extend opportunities for learners who are more able. Recruitment, and assessment of learners to provision including assessment of prior attainment, level and suitability for provision, including the provision of initial advice and guidance, participation in the marketing and promotion of courses, attendance at events, interviews/auditions and the identification of learner needs. Provision of timely and appropriate feedback and assessment to learners and parents/guardians including advising of academic progress and attainment. Resources To use accommodation and resources to create an effective and stimulating environment for learning and teaching. To allocate stock or resources to staff.
