Overview
The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical and mechanical engineers, creative building craftsperson, and dedicated support staff.
We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic person to join us. You should be experienced, time served and suitably qualified in plumbing and heating, associated maintenance, and plant fault finding.
This is a highly rewarding role. Working under the Mechanical Estates Officer, the successful candidate will embark on a challenging adventure, safely, efficiently, and with patient and staff safety at the heart of their focus.
Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical maintenance and installation work within acute and community NHS properties.
* Work on water systems, heating and pressure systems, ventilation, air conditioning, steam production, medical gases, and other healthcare related mechanical services.
* Self-motivate, work relatively unsupervised, and communicate effectively at all levels.
* Flexible working to assist other trades and undertake other tasks to maintain the building services.
Qualifications and Preferences
* A healthcare background would be advantageous but not essential, as specific training will be provided.
Location and Organisation
This post is based at Furness General Hospital.
We operate from three main hospitals — Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH). We also serve a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, and Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe.
FGH and the RLI provide a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. RLI provides general hospital services, along with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. Local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
