3. Grade 4 SCP 5–6 (£25,583 – £25,989 pro rata)
4. Actual starting salary: £16,392 per annum
5. Working Hours
6. 27.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)
About the Role
Birchgrove Comprehensive School is seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team, supporting pupils within our Specialist Teaching Facility (STF) and mainstream classrooms.
Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you will play a key role in enabling pupils to access learning, promoting inclusion and supporting their academic, social and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
7. Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with additional learning needs, ensuring their safety and engagement in learning
8. Assist in the implementation of individual education, behaviour and personal care plans
9. Support teaching staff in delivering planned learning activities
10. Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers
11. Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social development
12. Contribute to a purposeful, inclusive and supportive learning environment
13. Support the use of ICT and learning resources within lessons
14. Supervise pupils during non-classroom times and on school visits where required
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a candidate who:
15. Has experience working with children of a relevant age
16. Holds an NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent experience)
17. Has strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills
18. Is able to work both independently and as part of a team
19. Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents
20. Is committed to inclusion and supporting learners with additional needs
21. Experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs is desirable.
