Team Lead – Hydrogeology- Water Quantity
WSP invites applications for the position of Team Lead – Hydrogeology- Water Quantity within the Ground & Water team, working across the UK and India.
About the Role
We are looking for talented individuals to take on the role of Team Lead – Hydrogeology- Water Quantity within the Ground & Water team incorporating staff in the UK and India. Candidates should have strong leadership and interpersonal qualities, strong business management skills and experience as well as a passion for the discipline.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the Service Team Lead in the delivery of budget and the metrics associated with this, including tracking and reviewing the performance regularly. Including oversight of weekly resourcing and ensuring the team is hitting required Project Hours and that GCC is being deployed and utilised across the team.
* Supporting the team and technical specialists to drive accountability for winning and delivering work to budget and programme.
* Disseminating company and team communications ensuring that messages are received.
* Demonstrating technical leadership and take responsibility for the quality of outputs from within their region, acting as a reviewer or authoriser of reports and bids as required to drive and maintain standards.
* Supporting the team in ensuring local site audits are conducted to identify where support is needed and identify required action to be taken or any training requirements.
* Overseeing a culture of support and inclusion with regards to health and safety on site, working with the Health and Safety Group to ensure Risk Assessment Method Statements, including any Safety Critical Activities, are comprehensively completed for all site visits and to the required standard.
* Promoting and adhering to the Business Management System and internal processes, ensuring all team members do the same.
* Liaising with the Service Team Lead and Sector Leads (and Service Line Director, as appropriate) over Go‑No Go decisions, ensures that necessary governance is completed so correct authorisation to proceed and submit is in place.
* Leading, coordinating and assisting with major bids as required - contributing and reviewing submissions, and demonstrating added value both commercially and technically as a Project Director or Manager.
* Supporting international, national and regional business development activities through engagement with Sector Leads. participation in external market profile raising activities and functions, and through involvement with key clients.
* Actively engaging in key client relationships, leads by example creating cross‑selling opportunities for the wider business.
* Obtaining regular feedback from clients on our performance, acts on feedback and seeks opportunity for improvement.
* Providing and facilitating mentoring and coaching for junior team members, working with Early Careers Professional representatives to support the creation of a client focussed culture throughout the service line and wider discipline.
* Supporting people managers in managing people matters – raising matters with HR/ER as appropriate and supporting in their resolution, providing pastoral support across their region.
* Communicating any staff retention issues or flight risks to the Service Team Lead.
* Providing technical and, or commercial mentoring of junior staff.
* Overseeing recruitment requirements for the region and ensures alignment with the team strategies.
* Ensuring training requirements are considered at a regional level and are aligned with the national strategy and competency frameworks, including affirmation of mandatory staff training.
* Upholding and promoting the WSP values on HSSE, diversity, inclusion and equality.
* Regularly engage with team members through strong office presence in region.

Qualifications
* Relevant technical degree e.g. chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or environmental science
* Working towards / be prepared to work towards Chartership / Professional Qualification (e.g. QP) with a relevant institution
* The ability to travel
