As our new Test Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of our backend systems and integrations. From RESTful APIs and microservices to data pipelines and CI/CD workflows, your expertise will help us build scalable, resilient solutions that power our business.
Responsibilities
* Develop and execute manual test cases for APIs, backend services, and data flows
* Collaborate in code reviews and contribute to testable, maintainable codebases
* Perform root-cause analysis of defects and system failures
* Propose and implement improvements to testing processes, tools, and frameworks
* Support performance, security, and reliability testing across backend systems

Integration-Focused Testing
* Validate data consistency and integrity across systems, ensuring smooth communication between services
Collaborative Engineering
* Partner with Developers, DevOps, and Product Owners to embed quality into every stage of development
* Advocate for testability and observability in system architecture and design
Data-Driven Mindset
* Analyse test results, logs, and telemetry to uncover root causes and drive continuous improvement
* Champion smart testing strategies that align with business goals and customer needs
Skills & Experience
* Strong experience testing APIs, microservices, and backend systems (Node.js, Java, Python, etc.)
* Proficiency with tools like Postman, REST Assured, Cypress (API mode), or Playwright
* Proven hands on experience with SQL Server Management Studio
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Agile development practices
* Understanding of shift-left testing and test-driven development (TDD/BDD)
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Desirable – Boost Your Engineering Career
* Experience with performance testing, security testing, or observability tools
* Familiarity with data validation, integration testing, and backend test automation
* Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerized environments
* ISTQB, AWS, or similar certification
* Background in eCommerce, retail, or high-scale digital platforms

* Location: Home-based
* Hours: 37.5 per week
* Salary: Competitive, based on experience
