Description

The person appointed would be expected to:

* Make a positive contribution to the day-to-day functions of the IT Services (ITS) and Management Information Systems (MIS) Teams
* Support the work of the IT Services Team by providing first line support to staff and students in relation to account administration and other college wide resources
* Ensure scheduled database processes and procedures are fully working, checked and remediated if/when necessary
* Maintain relevant software components in relation to data systems, ensuring system health
* In conjunction with the Head of IT and MIS Manager, develop and implement the policies, technical procedures and standards for preserving the integrity and security of college data and reports
* Follow cyber security best practice and GDPR regulations relating to data systems
* Support the work of the MIS Team by developing and maintaining the database structures that underpin the College’s day-to-day business:
1. Develop warehousing tables to drive the roll-out of Power BI reporting cross-college
2. Ensure SQL views are fit for purpose, providing fixes and innovating new solutions where appropriate
3. Write SQL scripts to help maintain the flow of student-based information to and from our proprietary software systems (Civica College Management and CEDAR)
* Work with the MIS Manager to identify and develop cross-college processes, relating to data and work flow, which optimise the use of data and reports by staff
* Take a lead in the roll-out of the College’s new virtual learning environment (VLE), helping departments to develop, populate and maintain their own sections of the site
* Configure and install/upgrade software, applications and tools, ensuring they are fully tested before deployment
* Provide technical support to staff on college systems and reporting
* Develop and support college systems in accordance with the strategic direction of the College
* Demonstrate an awareness of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), and support the evaluation, safe adoption and appropriate use of AI tools within the College environment
1. Assist in assessing AI-based systems for suitability, security, data protection and educational value
2. Support staff in the effective and responsible use of AI tools where appropriate
3. Contribute to the development of guidance and best practices relating to AI usage in line with college policies and safeguarding requirements.
* To attend meetings and complete mandatory training in accordance with the College’s meeting/training schedule
* To assist at the College’s Open Evenings / Consultation Evenings
* Each member of the College will take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and persons who may be affected by his/her omissions at work
* To undertake any other duties as may be assigned commensurate with the grade and overall responsibility level of the post and as changing circumstances may require


Contract and Salary Information

Closing date: 12 noon on Monday 1st June 2026, we reserve the right to close this vacancy before this date.

Start date: 25th August 2026

Contract: Established, part time 21.6 hours per week, all year round. Hybrid working would be considered.

Salary: Point 27 – 29, £45,267 to £47,497 per annum (actual payable £27,160.20 to £28,498.20 pa) depending on experience
