Senior Associate / Associate Director | £65,000 - £80,000 (+ equity)
Overview
The Senior Associate / Associate Director role requires strategic, commercial, and organisational leadership. This person will help shape the studio’s future, nurture client relationships, mentor staff, and contribute to business development, while still remaining grounded in project delivery.
This is a pivotal hire with long‑term potential, including future leadership and equity pathways.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead multiple complex projects while overseeing quality, delivery, and client satisfaction.
* Develop and maintain long‑term client relationships; act as a trusted advisor.
* Contribute to fee proposals, bid writing, and ITT responses.
* Provide strategic input into resourcing, studio operations, and project planning.
* Mentor and support junior and mid‑level staff; contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing and CPDs.
* Represent the studio externally: teaching, lecturing, or participating in the architectural community is welcomed.
* Maintain a strong awareness of project economics, client budgets, and commercial decision‑making.
Required Skills & Experience
* Significant post‑Part III experience (typically 10–15+ years).
* Proven ability to run complex projects and teams.
* Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how architectural businesses operate.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills.
* Ability to mentor, support, and elevate others: generous with knowledge, not performative or patronising.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to see beyond the immediate week or project.
* Comfortable contributing to bids, proposals, and business development.
* Passion for meaningful, socially valuable architecture and sustainability.
Ideal Background
* Experience in respected design‑led studios, ideally with exposure to both large and medium‑scale practice environments.
