Responsibilities
* Ensure patient comfort and relaxation
* Obtain patient consent for blood sample collection
* Perform venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
* Adhere to the chaperone policy
* Collect blood samples in accordance with training and local policies and procedures
* Accurately and legibly label all samples to confirm patient identity and ensure correct packaging
* Maintain accurate patient records on the clinical system
* Store samples in appropriate containers
* Record collection of blood samples in the patient record in accordance with practice procedures
* Dispatch samples to appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion
* Report any anomalies to a senior member of staff
* Conduct point of care testing
* Perform administrative and service support tasks
* Manage clinical supplies (monitor stock levels, ordering, re-stocking of clinical areas, maintain equipment)
* Participate in quality improvement activities (audit, development of protocols, new services)
Experience
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
