Where you'll be working:
There’s never been a better time to join our team, with the brand-new Tamworth Mental Health Unit set to open within the next 24 months. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a transformative period of growth, innovation, and change in how mental health services are delivered across the Northern region.

Nestled among stunning tree-covered mountains, Tamworth offers the perfect mix of natural beauty, adventure, and opportunity. With a thriving community of over 60,000 people, it's a regional centre that’s full of life and potential.

Our current Banksia Mental Health Inpatient Unit is a 25-bed facility, providing essential care for individuals admitted both voluntarily and under the Mental Health Act. Join a dedicated team making a real difference every day—and help lead the way into an exciting future.

About the role:
As the successful candidate, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based psychological care to consumers and their families, supporting recovery and wellbeing across a variety of clinical presentations. You’ll play a key role in delivering consumer-focused assessments, interventions, and treatment planning, while also contributing your expertise to broader multidisciplinary care.

In addition to your clinical work, you’ll provide leadership within the psychology discipline—offering supervision, guidance, and support to fellow psychologists and team members. Your contribution will help shape service delivery, foster professional development, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective mental health care that achieves the best possible outcomes for our consumers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Peel Mental Health Service, where you’ll be welcomed into a supportive and experienced team. You’ll work alongside dedicated Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs), Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE), Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), experienced Psychiatrists, and a skilled Allied Health team—all committed to delivering high-quality mental health care.

About you:
We’re looking for a compassionate and dedicated professional who brings strong organisational skills, sound ethical judgment, and the ability to set and maintain clear professional boundaries. You’ll need to be discreet and respectful, with a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality.

Our ideal candidate is adaptable, proactive, and a natural communicator—someone who thrives in a team environment and is driven by a genuine passion for supporting those in need. If you're honest, hardworking, and ready to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and be part of a team that truly cares.

Requirements:
* Current registration as a Psychologist with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
* Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.
