Burnham on Sea Infant School is an inclusive school, characterised by very good relationships and a caring ethos’. The school has very committed staff who work creatively, in partnership with parents, to enable children to achieve great outcomes. We also place great emphasis on supporting children on a social and emotional level and have a strong ethos of inclusion in relation to our SEND children.

As part of this role, you will:
1. Plan teaching to achieve progression in students’ learning through identifying clear learning and teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught and assessed
2. Identifying the needs of individuals and groups within the class, taking note of individual education plans and the requirements of the code of practice, tailoring the teaching to take account of their identified needs
3. Establish and maintain a safe environment and purposeful working atmosphere which supports learning and in which students feel secure and confident
4. Assess and record students’ progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and weaknesses, inform planning and recognise the level at which the student is achieving
5. Set high expectations for students’ behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline through well-focused teaching and through positive and productive relationships
6. Implementing the school learning and teaching policy to provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge

This role involves working with children on a daily basis and is therefore in regulated activity.
