If youre a mechanically-biased maintenance engineer with experience in heavy process environments and youre ready to take on genuine leadership responsibility, this is worth your time. A well-established industrial manufacturer is looking for a Department Engineer to take ownership of mechanical maintenance across a defined area of a large-scale processing site. Youll lead a team of tradespeople and apprentices, drive the weekly maintenance schedule, and play a central role in building a reliability-centred culture that actually sticks. This isnt a reactive firefighting role. The expectation is that youll lead from the front, coaching your team, resolving problems at root cause, and contributing to long-term maintenance planning when new equipment arrives on site. What youll be doing: Leading the delivery of the weekly maintenance schedule via a CMMS Managing tradespeople, apprentices, and external contractors Driving reliability improvement projects using lean principles Supporting fault diagnosis and equipment failure analysis Contributing to maintenance input on new equipment installations Working toward Senior Authorised Person status What youll need: A mechanical maintenance background in heavy or large-scale process industry People management, coaching, or mentoring experience A solid working knowledge of H&S legislation and safe systems of work HNC in an engineering discipline or strong demonstrable experience with a willingness to commit to further study Experience in a COMAH environment is desirable but not essential The hours are Monday to Friday, 07:3016:00, with a half-day finish on Fridays.
