About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Junior Social Media Journalist to join a fast-paced sports social media team, working across multi-sport accounts and platforms. The role focuses on commissioning, curating, editing, and publishing engaging social-first content, with a strong emphasis on reaching under-35 and diverse audiences.
You'll collaborate closely with social media, editorial, video production, and news teams to deliver timely, creative, and platform-native content that enhances audience engagement and commercial value.
Key Responsibilities
Create and publish stand-out social content tailored to each platform while maintaining a consistent brand voice
Commission and deliver social-first assets, including graphics, vertical video, and thumbnails
Publish live and planned content across multiple social platforms in a timely and accurate manner
Cut and publish live sports moments, identifying monetisation opportunities across platforms
Work closely with editorial and video teams to ensure alignment across all output streams
Engage audiences by working with community management teams, capitalising on trends and facilitating fan engagement initiatives (e.g. AMAs)
Demonstrate developing editorial judgement and a strong understanding of newsroom workflows
Contribute creative ideas to evolve and grow social output
Maintain awareness of current sporting stories, trends, and competitor activity
What You'll Bring
Early-career experience publishing sports content on social platforms
Strong understanding of social video formats and audience consumption habits
Interest in emerging platforms, technology, and innovation
Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
Knowledge of a broad range of sports (beyond football)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a live environment
