Overview
We are seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) with a proven track record in delivering bridges and/or tunnels on major rail infrastructure projects. Based in Leeds, this is a key contract opportunity to join a high-performing team on a technically complex programme of works.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the appointed CEM for civil and structural elements focused on bridge and tunnel works within a rail environment.
* Provide engineering assurance and oversight across the full lifecycle – from design through to construction and handover.
* Review and approve technical submissions, including Form A/B, method statements, and temporary works designs.
* Ensure all engineering works are compliant with Network Rail standards, CDM regulations, and client requirements.
* Coordinate with Civil CREs, Design Houses, and Construction Managers to ensure safe, efficient delivery.
* Lead interface management between civil structures, geotechnical, and adjacent disciplines.
Requirements
* Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
* Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or MIStructE) preferred.
* Significant experience as a CEM or senior CRE on rail bridge or tunnel schemes .
* In-depth understanding of Network Rail processes, assurance documentation, and structural design standards.
* Strong leadership, coordination, and communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
