Lead vital housing fraud investigations that protect homes and ensure fairness for our residents
As our Housing Investigations Manager, you'll lead the charge in making sure our homes are lived in as they should be, and homes go to those who truly need them. We're all in on protecting what matters most.
Residents deserve a fair and honest chance at secure housing.
Working Style:
You'll be based in the Borough for three days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. Whether you're working on the frontline or leading a team behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated service making a real difference to residents' lives.
What you'll be doing:
You'll lead a small, expert team focused on tackling housing fraud and protecting our council homes for those in genuine need. From identifying subletting to investigating false applications, your work will help make housing access fairer and more transparent across the borough.
You'll manage a range of cases - some complex, others more routine - ensuring each investigation is handled thoroughly, professionally and in line with our values. Whether it's launching a key amnesty, leading a fraud awareness campaign, or presenting evidence in court, you'll be in the thick of it, driving high standards and smart, ethical enforcement.
Alongside your investigations, you'll train and support colleagues, work closely with Legal Services, lead on campaign delivery and monitor impact - providing data and reports that clearly show how your team's work makes a difference. It's a role where your leadership, judgement and problem-solving skills will shine and where your ability to build trust - inside and outside the Council - will be key

What you'll bring:
You're a confident, experienced investigator with a solid background in housing law and fraud prevention. You know your way around key legislation - from the Housing Act to RIPA - and you're comfortable presenting evidence in court and making tough calls when needed.
You're a natural manager who's calm under pressure and organised in your approach. You're used to managing people and caseloads, juggling priorities and finding the right balance between enforcement and empathy. You write clearly, communicate well and can explain complex issues in simple terms.
Most of all, you care about fairness - and you're motivated by making sure our housing system works for those who need it most.
