Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join a small team of continuous improvement specialists for a manufacturing company in Newcastle. Your main focus will be to support the manufacturing engineering department to successfully implement and manage a bespoke manufacturing execution system, which collates and generates analysis information to drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Self-motivated and able to work independently with the ability to identify and prioritise work.
* Act as the point of contact to resolve shop floor process issues related to the data collection system.
* Liaise with, and act as point of contact for the production department regarding data collation and analysis, representing Planning, Quality, Engineering, HSE, etc.
* Support downtime investigations and root cause analyses.
* Lead and drive continuous improvement within the department, with regard to HSE, Quality and Productivity.
* Ensure all associated documentation is correct and available (create and revise Procedures, Process and Quality records).
* Ensure all equipment is available for the process.
* Work within small multifunctional teams and facilitate cross-functional problem solving workshops.
* Apply analytical skills to define Pareto analyses, identify top offenders, and sanitize data.
Qualifications
* HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering or related subject.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and data analysis techniques.
* High level of attention to detail with strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
* Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, and diverse audiences, including suppliers and internal/external customers.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically MS Excel and SharePoint (PowerApps knowledge is advantageous).
Desirable
* Background in manufacturing for the Oil & Gas, Offshore, Marine or Renewables sector.
Terms
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential to be extended or become a permanent hire depending on business needs or performance. Salary is £42,000 p/a on a PAYE basis.
