Brightpoint Community College invites internal applications for the Director of Advising and Onboarding position. As a key leader within the Student Success team, this role provides strategic vision and leadership for academic advising, retention, and transfer pathways.
Student Learning and Development Working in collaboration with institutional partners, the Director will foster a culture of student learning and development and work to streamline the path from onboarding to graduation. The incumbent will design programs and services that empower new, current, and prospective students to:
9. Explore & Define: Actively investigate educational and career goals that align with their personal values and aspirations.
10. Build Capacity: Develop the critical thinking skills, academic perspectives, and self-advocacy needed to navigate higher education successfully.
11. Achieve Mastery: Progress toward the meaningful attainment of degrees and certificates through a clear understanding of their own educational journey.
Strategic Leadership & Collaboration The Director will bridge the gap between academic intent and student outcomes by clarifying pathways and proactively removing systemic obstacles to success. As a collaborative leader, the incumbent will build strong partnerships across college departments and external entities to ensure a seamless, educational onboarding environment. By connecting learners with vital institutional, local, state, and federal resources, the Director ensures every student has the structural support and social capital needed to thrive. Minimum Qualifications:
Comprehensive knowledge of student development theory, academic advising practices, onboarding, retention strategies, and transfer pathways within a higher education environment. Demonstrated skill in strategic leadership, program development, data-informed decision-making, and cross-functional collaboration. Ability to design and implement integrated advising and onboarding initiatives, remove systemic barriers to student success, foster a student-centered culture, and achieve measurable outcomes in student retention, completion, and academic success.
Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check will be required.Additional Considerations:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Master’s Degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related field. Extensive community college Student Affairs leadership experience. Experience in policy development.
