About the Role
We are on the lookout for an experienced Modern Workplace Engineer to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Desktop Support Team Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in cloud and end-user computing to contribute to Smiths News' modern workplace journey.
Key Accountabilities
* Technical Escalation: Be the go-to person for resolving high-level technical issues related to Microsoft 365, Azure services, Intune compliance, and other modern workplace technologies.
* Project Involvement: Engage in IT projects focused on modern workplace enhancements, migrations, and new technology rollouts.
* Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Microsoft technologies and best practices, continuously enhancing processes and team capabilities.
* Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure, including diagrams and procedures.
* System Monitoring: Ensure optimal operation of end-user compute and monitor system compliance.
* Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve Azure/365 incidents and projects.
* Onshore Presence: Be a key member for office-based users.
About You
* Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S).
* Experience with modern device management (Intune) and cloud services (Azure).
* Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, Azure Fundamentals, Windows 10/11 certifications, ITIL Foundation, or equivalent.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Skills
* Experience in PowerShell scripting for automation.
* Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR).
* Experience in hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud).
