HR and Payroll Assistant at Kratos Analytical
This post is situated in the Mechanical Engineering discipline of the Research and Development (R&D) department, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
The nature of work will involve design and development of new scientific instrumentation and peripheral devices (full design cycle), support and maintenance of design/production documentation for existing products, and support and development of relevant engineering control systems. This work will typically require collaboration across multiple disciplines within the R&D department and other function areas within the company.
Responsible to the Mechanical Group Manager for:
* Design creation and development activity in line with Kratos engineering standards documentation.
* Design model creation for parts, drawings and assemblies.
* Bill of creation in the Kratos file management system.
* Peer review and approval of work done, as per grade.
* Prepare prototype release of items to enable their purchase for verification and validation testing.
* Creation and development of item specification material, including but not limited to model, drawing, data and RoHS documentation for items.
* Responsible for task-based activities in collaboration with engineers in the management of work for Design Change Requests (DCR).
* Responsible for the total work output of DCR(s) assigned.
* Investigate given DCR(s) to ascertain work functions required and forecast dates. Provide information to DCR management to facilitate assignment.
* Investigation of problems found on existing designs in engineering, production, test and field.
* Peer review of supporting documentation. Verification Reports, RoHS Change Sheets, and other R&D only documents.
* Project based design work from feasibility through to manufacturing release.
* Conform to work procedures in line with quality systems.
* Member of engineering body responsible for completing verification tests for changes to current product.
* Member of engineering body responsible for consulting activities of process development.
* Liaise with multiple departments on project work to ensure completion of tasks as planned. (e.g. Electronics, Physics, Purchasing, etc).
* Conduct detailed research based mechanical reports on design and test. Able to present findings to a wider audience as required.
The following items are desirable responsibilities, all depending on actual grade.
* Design approval of items as part of Kratos internal processes
* Review and approve supporting documentation Verification Reports, RoHS Change Sheets, Feasibility reports and other R&D only documents.
Qualifications (E/D):
* A minimum Higher National Diploma (HND) in a relevant engineering/design/science field of study. (E)
* Complete a course of study at undergraduate degree level in a relevant engineering/design/science field. (D)
Job Related Aptitude and Skills (E/D):
* 3D CAD experience. Some relevant packages are Solidworks, Solid Edge, Catia Autodesk Fusion 360 and Autodesk Inventor. (E)
* Pro E Creo experience would be most desirable. (D)
* Formal file management applications systems and workflows (E)
* Modelling and drafting experience with experience of GD&T (E)
* Experience of developing complex assemblies (both modular and singular). (D)
* FMEA, DFMEA experience. (D)
* Experience of working in Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) processes. (D)
* Experience and knowledge of Verification and validation processes. (D)
* Understanding of work practices to standards such as EN ISO13485. (D)
