Overview

Applications are invited for a Service Improvement Support Officer within the Adult and Health Services Development and Learning Team. The position is temporary until 31 March 2027, or the return of the substantive postholder. The purpose of this post is to support quality improvement programmes within the service and to ensure governance standards are met. This is an opportunity to work across all of Adult and Health Services and partners on a wide range of programmes of change and development linked to service improvement and compliance. There will be a strong focus on the preparation, support and management of the Care Quality Assurance Assessment of Adult Care with a re‑assessment likely in early 2026.


Responsibilities

Working across all Adult and Health Services you will provide information, internal communications and guidance to managers and staff on all areas connected to quality, governance, and service improvement. You will support the implementation of an annual quality schedule and service improvement programme and be able to support robust reporting mechanisms and tracking of improvement actions. You will have lead responsibility for ensuring that all relevant policies and procedures are developed and in place, working with a range of officers within the service and the wider council. You will also horizon scan and demonstrate how to develop processes and systems to improve outcomes and understand the purpose and operation of quality systems.

What will I need?

You will be qualified to degree level or equivalent, or demonstrate substantial, relevant and recent experience.


You should have experience in:

* The development of processes and systems to improve outcomes
* Engaging and working collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and service users


You will demonstrate:

* Clear and effective communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* IT literacy skills
* Research methodology skills
* Excellent time management, organisational and planning skills
* Ability to work to deadlines in a pressurised environment
* Ability to work on your own initiative
