Keystream are recruiting for a skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join an IT team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to critical public services while delivering hands-on IT support to end users.
Key Specifics
Rate: £220 p/day (Maximum)
IR35: Inside
Working arrangements: 5 days p/week onsite
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support across the organisation
* Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues
* Support Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, and standard desktop applications
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and devices via Active Directory
* Set up, configure, and deploy desktops, laptops, and mobile devices
* Log and update support calls using the service management system (e.g. ITSM)
* Liaise with other IT teams and third-party suppliers where necessary
* Assist with office moves, hardware refreshes, and project rollouts
Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in a desktop support or IT support role (public sector desirable)
* Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office 365
* Experience with Active Directory, SCCM/Intune, and remote support tools
* Familiarity with ITIL practices and service desk environments
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team under minimal supervision
Desirable:
* Public sector experience (e.g. NHS, local authority, education)
* Relevant IT certifications (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft, ITIL)
* Familiarity with mobile device management and VPNs
* Basic networking knowledge (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP)
