East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking to appoint senior building services engineers (M&E - Maintenance) to work within the Building Services Engineering team of the Building Consultancy Group. The team is based at County Hall in Beverley, although you will be expected to undertake site surveys, inspections and attend meetings and events away from the office. Note: the group operate an agile working protocol which permits a degree of home working.
The Building Consultancy Group provide a wide range of services including single and multi-disciplinary schemes (new and refurbishment), building maintenance and building services compliance. Our property portfolio boasts a diverse range of buildings including leisure centres, office accommodation, care facilities, schools, and social housing.
The principal functions of this role will require the post-holder to undertake the following:
1. Oversee and manage engineering term service contracts ensuring that building services installations/systems/equipment in ERYC buildings are maintained to a safe and compliant standard. Ensuring contractors perform and comply with the contract requirements and within budgets.
2. Manage the reactive (day-to-day responsive) maintenance of building services installations/systems/equipment in ERYC buildings to keep buildings functioning and operating safely. This will generally be to buildings within a defined geographical area.
In addition, you will also be required to deliver quality building services engineering schemes and solutions, designing for new and refurbishment projects, producing specifications and CAD drawings and procuring the works in accordance with the council’s requirements. You will also ensure that contractors undertake work to the desired standards in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with statutory regulations.
The post requires enthusiastic and motivated engineers with experience in compliance, maintenance and design of building services, together with relevant formal qualifications, preferably at HNC/NVQ level 4, and the ability to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of current legislation appertaining to building services cyclical maintenance.
Ideally, you will be a member of a relevant professional body and working towards registration as Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council. Access to further training is available and is actively encouraged.
You will possess a full driving license, as the post requires the holder to undertake site visits in pursuance of their duties. You will be required to participate in an out of hour’s emergency call out rota (approximately 1 week in 30).
